I must admit, I prefer grapes in the form of wine. But that doesn’t mean they can’t be enjoyed in other forms right.
Four Facts on Grape Nutrition:
- The highest concentration of nutrients and antioxidants in grapes exist in the skin and the seed.
- Grapes, both in their whole form and as wine, contain the antioxidant reservatrol. Reservatrol is one of those “sexy” antioxidants that may play a role in longevity.
- Grapes may reduce risk for inflammation by lowering pro inflammatory messaging of certain molecules (i.e., IL-6, IL-1B, & tnf-alpha).
- Grapes provide many cardiovascular benefits including the ability to regulate blood pressure and cholesterol, and reducing (bad) LDL cholesterol.
Storage:
Store ripe grapes in the refrigerator. It’s best to wash only right before you eat. Grapes should last about 5 days in the refrigerator.
