Who’s had granita before? It’s another trend I have seen all over the instagram/blogosphere. Once you drool over enough photos, it’s time to give it a shot right?
And what I ended up loving about granita is that it’s really easy to make, just 3-ish ingredients and two of them are fruit! I chose to use plums and apricots and also apriums/plumcots and now I see why I haven’t seen a plum granita before! I ended up using 10 pieces of fruit! I have seen granitas recipes for strawberry basil, blackberry, the possibilities are endless! But if you are like me and love when you get that sour pucker face (remember warheads), this one’s for you!
A side note on apriums and plumcots, which name do you prefer!? I was at trader joe’s and noticed some were labeled apriums and some were labeled plumcots and I almost bought both until I realized they were the same thing!
Plum Apricot Granita
plums, apricots, apriums, lemon and sugar is all you need from a simple and satisfying treat
- 3 plums
- 3 apriums
- 4 apricots
- 2 lemons
- 3 tsp sugar
Prepare a loaf pan with plastic wrap.
Remove the plums, apriums, and apricots.
In a food processor add the plums, juice of half a lemon
Pour the mixture into the loaf pan and put in the fridge.
Repeat steps 3 and 4 with the apricots, followed by the apriums.
Freeze for 3 hours or overnight.
Use a fork to scrape the frozen granita. Repeat until you've scraped the entire pan.
I separated the plums, apricots, and apriums into 3 layers for the color effect. I think you could also do it all at once, if you like.
